Employment tribunals must order equal pay audits

From 1 October 2014 Employment Tribunals will have the power to order any employer that loses an equal pay case to carry out an equal pay audit.

The exceptions set out in the Equality Act 2010 (Equal Pay Audits) Regulations 2014 relate to, among other things, whether or not the employer has recently carried out an audit that meets certain requirements, and whether or not the benefits delivered by the audit would exceed the disadvantages of conducting it.

The Equality Act 2010 (Equal Pay Audits) Regulations 2014 put the ‘flesh on the bones’ by setting out how the new law will operate in practice.
