Fairways is growing!

Having enjoyed more than 7 years in the Balmoral Suite premises, we agreed the offices had become too small and so took the decision to move to bigger premises as part of our growth strategy.  Towards the end of 2017, we renovated the old Royal British House property and made it a grand building once more – as it deserves to be. So lately, although not moving very far, we have seen busy times both in workload and relocating to our new premises in the remarkable Royal British House building  in Leonard Street Perth and we are delighted to see the improvements draw to a close.  With on-site parking, premises even closer to the train station than previously, our clients find this very handy. We now have an improved venue to hold our training sessions and hiring our board room externally for client meetings and events.

Whilst having  Investors in People Gold since 2012, Fairways  now also has Investors in Young People Gold accreditation. Fairways is the first recruitment agency in Scotland to achieve Gold standard in both awards, and the fifth organisation in Scotland. Investors in Young People is the only people management standard that focuses on an employer’s recruitment and retention of young people.

Gold Investors in Young People accreditation demonstrates Fairways as an employer of choice for young people and testifies to our effective Youth Employment practices.

Its busy, busy times relocating to our new premises in Leonard Street Perth which ticks every box on our list. On-site parking, premises so close to the train station, we can almost fall in and it is so handy for our clients. It seems an age since our managing director officially became the new owner of Fairways as she had been working on this acquisition for 7 or 8 months before everything could be concluded. From a passionate corporate HR director to passionate business owner she is bringing in new concepts and creating a new brand for Fairways with diverse new services in the pipeline – Everything HR and we are all excited. Oh, the mysterious buyer from 1994, that was in fact the new business owner of today!

10 years has passed since the birth of Fairways with never a dull day to be seen. With less secretarial business being carried out and more and more recruitment requirements increasing for local businesses, lots of new clients and contracts, both large and small, are being won by Fairways due to the high quality of candidate being offered to clients.

Fairways Business Services, later to become Fairways Recruitment Agency, was born. In its very early days Fairways started its operation as a secretarial services firm supplying typing services to companies and individuals all over Scotland including book writers and a comedienne. Very quickly the business adapted and became recruiting business. At that time the business operation was served from offices in Watergate, Perth until 2010.

Liz Jackson FCIPD, MIOR

Managing Director

Liz brings a depth of experience in human resources not usually seen in a recruitment agency. As the lead director for the company’s activities, Liz is responsible for the delivery of an efficient and effective service across the company’s portfolio.

With over 25 years’ experience in HR & recruitment, she has specialised in reviewing and implementing robust systems, performance and efficiency measures, recruitment & selection processes, employee engagement, TUPE transfers, and providing HR employment law advice to clients with a remarkable 100% employment tribunal success rate.

Liz is also a Scottish Chamber of Commerce Business Mentor and was Chair of CIPD Scotland for 7 years.

Specialisms: Employment Law, Employment Tribunals, HR Business Support & Consultancy, Performance Management, Health & Safety and senior level Recruitment.

Donna Causton MIOR

Senior Recruitment Consultant

As senior recruitment consultant in our Perth office, Donna is responsible for providing suitably qualified and experienced candidates to Clients in accordance with their exacting requirements.

With more than 12 years’ experience in recruitment, Donna delivers recruitment solutions across a range of sectors and disciplines in both the temporary and permanent fields. Her key strengths are in construction, manufacturing, marketing, not for profit organisations and hospitality and tourism.

Donna gets her biggest buzz when she ensures she has provided her clients with candidates who have the right skills, abilities and cultural fit for their organisation.

Chloe McElhinney

Recruitment Consultant

Chloe joined Fairways early 2016 as Front of House Ambassador and with over 5 years’ experience in the hospitality sector having worked for one of Perth’s award winning tourist attractions, Chloe has thrived on delivering exceptional customer service and ensures all clients and candidates leave Fairways with a positive experience and a smile on their faces.

Through her natural approach with people and keen interest in recruitment she then took on the role of Trainee Recruitment Consultant and is now qualified as a recruiter.

Chloe finds it most rewarding when she is helping candidates secure employment whether this be temporary or permanent and when she is securing the right candidates for clients.

So, if you require 10 people tomorrow, then Chloe is your ‘go to person’.

Jane Bertie

Financial Controller

Jane manages all aspects of the finance function for Fairways. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1993 with KPMG and has more than 20 years’ experience working in various financial roles within private industry. Jane ensures that all our financial records and systems are accurate and that the business operates effectively and efficiently and of course ensuring we all get paid!

As Financial Controller, Jane works closely with our Managing Director and the recruitment team providing financial information for continued development of the business.

Chris Tanyous

Front of House Ambassador

Chris is undoubtedly the first person you meet when visiting our Perth Office as he is our Front of House Ambassador. Chris makes sure appointments are arranged, all of our documentation is up to date, and our internal computer systems are kept running smoothly. He also likes to keep all the staff in line!

Chris ensures that everyone who comes through the doors of Fairways is always given a very warm welcome.

His experience includes several years in customer service roles and he also spent 2 years in an office administration role for Perth and Kinross Council. Chris supports the rest of the team in their day to day work and has long term aspirations to become a Recruitment Consultant. It’s only a matter of time!

Outside of the office Chris’s biggest passion is football. He plays for Jeanfield Swifts Amateurs as Right Wing Midfielder and frequently reminds his colleagues that he could be a professional!
